It was the all time TOP and we all liked IKE

So lopez hears voices from the past that a 50th high school reunion thing is coming up and of course the Old Mind moves back and of course we know it was post Korean War and pre, the killing of JFK, and Lopez believes that period of time, that 1953-1963, was in fact, in stock market terms, the all time high of the USA---and along with the blooming of suburbia and hot cars like the mid fifties Chevy's, we had Rock 'n Roll, Elvis and Ed Sullivan, and the start of the Jet age and also, sadly in the view of Lopez, we had the beginning of the superstar politicians and the cut-off time from the old frontier USA of John Wayne, and the start of the new and modern damn the torpedo's gangs---and were the Platters awesome and so many more and so much more? And what a time for parties and slow dancing, cashmere sweaters, arms draped----And many of us were there, so thinking and comparing those Fifties-Plus to today, well the All- Back-When looks and feels so much better from the standpoint of Mankind, as yes, we have mightily progressed, but we left the soft curves and soft shadows all behind---And too, on this Memorial Weekend, reminding our Fifties Group how lucky we have been, lopez listens to Ray Anthony, "Dancing in the Dark" on this rainy Sunday morning, and wonders if in fact this is what the world, and especially the USA, has been doing for the last 50 years????????????????
